Background
With the completion of the lifting project for Brunei Fertilizers Industries (BFI) in Brunei, our Tugboat, Tiong Woon Ocean 18, and Barge, Tiong Woon 32 was tasked to transport our crane and transportation assets weighing a total of 3,300 Tons back to our HQ in Singapore.
Transportation of our crane assets to the pier
Our Prime Mover and SPMT were deployed to transport our assets from the project site to the Brunei Muara Port.
Loading onto Barge
Our 250T crawler crane was deployed at the pier to assist in the lifting and loading of the assets onto the Barge. Careful planning was done by the lifting team to ensure that the Barge area was able to adequately accommodate all our assets safely, taking into consideration the 250T crawler crane doing the lifting, the Prime Mover, and the SPMT.
Marine Transportation of assets back to Singapore
Our lifting and marine teams had to work within an hour on the day of departure to commence the RORO operation as they can only depart during the highest tide that happens in a short period within a day. During that short period, the team had a Mobile Crane at the pier to setup ramps to connect it to the Barge, allowing the remaining assets to move onto the Barge.
With the loading of the assets completed, our lifting team proceeded to jack down the main body of the 250T crawler crane and load it onto our SPMT as it will be driven onto the Barge.
Once all assets are onboard, the Mobile crane decoupled the rams from the barge and the marine team finalized the lashings for the RORO operation to commence.
With a total laden weight of 3,300Tons of assets on the Barge, Tiong Woon Ocean 18, a Brake Horsepower (BHP) of 3200BHP was chosen to tug Tiong Woon 32, a barge that has a maximum Deadweight Tonnage of 5,500Tons, back to Singapore.
Teamwork and meticulous planning are the keys.
The lifting team encountered a few roadblocks as certain assets were planned to be rolled onto the Barge but had to be lifted onto the Barge instead to accommodate other assets.
Nevertheless, it was a job well done to our lifting and marine teams!
