TWC's transport team had an opportunity to transport three Gantry Crane Girder on the west side of Singapore on the last day of June. Measuring 31m (L) x 3m (W) x 2.5m (H) and weighing 10Tons each, two of our Prime Movers equipped with the MultiMax semi low loader was deployed for this transportation project.

Our client initially chose to load all three Girders on one Self-Propelled Modular Transporter (SPMT) for this project. However, after accessing the risks, dimensions, and nature of the load, we suggested using the extendable loaders for the three Girders' transportation. The team advised distributing two Girders to one loader, and the other carrying one.

Even though the cost was a tad higher than having a SPMT to transport all the Girders at one go, the client eventually accepted our proposal as both parties agreed that safety was the most vital objective in the execution of the transportation project.

The transport team had to plan the vehicle's precise movements, ensuring the turning radius is big enough for the loaders to turn out from the loading site and turning into the unloading site.

The whole transport operation was executed in the night as traffic during the planned routes was lighter. As the Girders were more than 3m in length, Auxiliary Police escorts were deployed alongside the trailers to ensure the safety of road users and control the movement of the trailers.

It was a well-coordinated transportation project and a job well done by our transportation team!
